Roo loves all things like dough balls as a side to a meal or a more filling snack. Sometimes I just don’t fancy standing and weighing out a lot of different ingredients so we like to keep a few packets of this in the cupboard at all times.
This mix is approximately £1.20 and available in the free from aisle of the larger supermarkets. It will take about 10 minutes to prepare the dough and 30 minutes to bake. You will get 12 dough balls from this pack.
We like this specific mixture as the dough balls are beautiful tasty, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle and it does not feel as though you’re eating free from food. They’re super simple to make and require very little skill.
The instructions on the packet call for 100ml lukewarm water, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and 50g cheese. I like to use garlic infused olive oil in place of the vegetable oil to make garlic dough balls. We also use violife cheese in the dough and on top when baking.
We often serve these as a side with pasta dishes or as a substantial snack if Roo is feeling extra hungry.
I like to serve these with a garlic butter dip on the side, which is simply 1 tablespoon vitalite margarine, 1 clove crushed garlic and 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley. I mix these together in a small bowl.
You can also use this dough mix for a pizza base which also works well. But if you don’t want to do so check out our Pizza recipe here.
We would definitely recommend this dough mix to anyone looking for a quick and easy way to make tasty dough balls.
